Brickell: The Overnight Neighborhood

It is a well-known fact that development in Brickell has skyrocketed since the turn of the century. All you have to do to verify this is take a promenade throughout the district and you’ll notice the numerous hardhats, heavy equipment, and projects in progress found in the area. A 2013 npr report found that 25 to 30 towers were in the planning or development stage for Brickell, many of which you can find information about by clicking here. The recent surge of growth in Brickell can be attributed to multiple factors, all of which are discussed below.

Introducing Elysee Miami: Miami’s Newest Luxury High-Rise

Earlier this month, the first renderings of a new, rather slim condo tower were released under the name Elysee Miami. The development will, without a doubt, offer more luxury than any other building in Edgewater. Rising to 57 stories, the entire project will only house 100 apartments, meaning that there will be 2 condos on every floor (which of course implies a surplus of living space per tenant). Prices will start at $1.65 million.

If you’ve ever driven or walked past the Metrorail in Miami, you’ve probably noticed the unkempt and unutilized area located directly below it. A new initiative, spearheaded by The Friends of the Underline and James Corner Field Operations, aims to transform this neglected tract of land into a park extending the entire length of the Metrorail, from Brickell to Dadeland South. The 10 mile epic project has been titled: The Underline.
