The Brickell City Centre is officially open, and on Tuesday, November 2, 2016, the new indoor-outdoor shopping mecca hosted a party sure to be remembered. The evening kicked off with a surprise performance by Mr. 305 himself, Pitbull, hosted by Centre anchor, Saks Fifth Avenue. Pitbull pulsed through a series of hit songs despite a sudden downpour.
The concert’s Susanne Bartsch after party continued on the Centre’s first floor, where a who’s who of Miami’s invitees gathered for welcome Perrier-Jouët sips. A band led a procession to the Centre’s second floor where an array of colorful and kooky characters greeted guests. The ensembles were photo-worthy; stilt walkers crept through the crowd in spider-like, avant-garde black costumes while acrobats dressed in collapsing milk carton dresses. A fan favorite were the brightly suited men with animal heads. The night was a visual indulgence.
Party fare included passed bites and desserts, while sake, rose, and champagne poured through the night. Brooklyn-based disco band Escort swept guests onto the dance floor before they went up to Sugar for an hours-long night cap.
