America’s Largest Mall Might Be in Miami
The owners of the Mall of America, currently the largest mall in the United State, which is situated in Minnesota, proposed a $4 billion project to build a megamall that would be located in less than an hour drive from Brickell. The site of this development would be the now pasture lands and vacant real estate at the intersection of Florida’s Turnpike and Interstate 75, near Miami Lakes.
From what I have gathered, American Dream Miami, as it is currently titled, will be on a scale unlike anything I, and probably you, have ever seen. Triple Five, the owners of Mall of America, stated, “It is our intent that this project – American Dream Miami – will exceed our other world famous projects in all respects.”
If Triple Five is able to get their hands on the 200-acres of land on which the proposed entertainment complex would be built, they hold that they will create 25,000 jobs during the construction phase, and many more permanent positions afterwards. And I do not say entertainment complex lightly, because if this project is carried out, it will be the epitome of entertainment. As of now, American Dream Miami is shown to have a water park, a lake with submarine rides, an amusement park with roller coasters, a Ferris Wheel, a skating rink, an artificial ski slope, a miniature golf course, and a Legoland. Yep, all of these in a half hour drive from Brickell.
