Brickell City Center Expansion

Plans for the new and improved Brickell City Centre

One of the hottest destinations in all of Miami, Brickell City Centre is set to grow even bigger and better.

Brickell City Centre is known to residents of Miami as a hub of fine dining, top of the line shopping, and endless entertainment options. As great of an attraction Brickell City Centre currently is, plans are being made for its expansion. The plan though is a longterm one and construction won’t begin for another couple of years.

Swire Properties, the project’s original developer, plans to add two brand new state of the art towers. These towers will stand 54 and 62 stories high respectively and will be connected by a unique and distinctive bridge where pedestrians can walk between properties. Both towers will consist of over 972 residential units and a three-level multifunctional retail base.

Swire will add an additional 90,000 square feet of new mall space at the former Tobacco Road property which will include over 840 parking spaces. Swire is also committed to dividing $1 million equally among the five commission districts designated for affordable housing or anti-poverty efforts.

Parking for the new towers will be in the garages that are above the ground. Most of the existing parking at Brickell City Centre is currently below ground, and One Brickell City Centre and the North Block are planned to have below-grade parking.

The projects schedule will depend on favorable market conditions, construction will not begin for another couple of years and completion would then take another three or so years.

What’s New At Brickell City Centre

Brickell City Centre has already become Miami’s go-to place for luxurious shopping, dining, and entertainment. And just when you thought that this Brickell hub could not get any better, think again! CMX dine-in movie theater just opened its first United States location at Brickell City Centre. The Mexico-based company, Cinemex, has over 600 locations worldwide, and is the sixth-largest theater chain in the world. CMX at Brickell City Centre spans 35,759 square feet with 10 movie screens, and doubles as a place to hangout before and after watching a film.

CMX offers patrons two dining areas that serve sandwiches, burgers, seafood, pizza, salads, and more. Additionally, CMX offers patrons two bars that are fully stocked with international, domestic, and craft beers, as well as a great selection of wine and cocktails. The theaters all include reclining seats with USB ports for phone charging, rotating food trays, food service call buttons, and personal lighting. Moviegoers will appreciate the spacious area between seats that offer plenty of space for food servers to deliver food.

CMX Brickell City Centre provides a far more superior dine-in movie experience than its competitors, as all of the theaters feature laser projects, which provide exceptional picture quality. Additionally, CMX Brickell City Centre has one theater with Dolby Atmos that takes surround sound to the next level. A fun feature to the CMX movie-watching experience are the glasses that display subtitles in various languages.

Another recent opening at Brickell City Centre is the Apple store. This new location has become the flagship store for Apple in the Miami area. Apple at Brickell City Centre has over 100 employees with half of them being Spanish-speakers. Since Miami is such multi-cultural city, employees at the Apple store speak a total of nine different languages.

La Centrale Italian Food Hall Set to Open This December

Brickell residents are thrilled that La Centrale, the anticipated Italian food hall, is preparing for its grand opening this coming December. They don’t have to wait too much longer to enjoy La Centrale’s unique experience featuring impeccable service and authenticity. La Centrale is Miami’s take on some of New York City’s hottest food halls such as Chelsea Market and Mario Batlai’s, Eataly.

LaCentrale - Brickell City Centre
The concept of La Centrale spurred from the minds of Jacopo Giustiniani, the New York City-based Italian restaurateur, and Matthias Kiehm, a hospitality management industry veteran.

La Centrale is unique from other food halls, because they are focusing on a restaurant-style approach. There will be a variety of cafes, restaurants, and eateries featuring different atmospheres, so that everyone can enjoy a different place throughout the day.

This food hall will offer authentic food and drink options, which truly replicates the Italian lifestyle. Besides those eateries, La Centrale will showcase a gelato shop, a cooking school, a cocktail bar, and an expansive wine selection.

La Centrale will be located in Brickell City Centre and will occupy 3-stories and 38,000 square feet of space. The hall was built on inspiration by the top 20 prominent regions of Italy, and the decor and architecture of the food all reflect the diversity of Italy.

The first level will feature culinary staples for the home cook, and will be the go-to place for house-made pastas, freshly brewed espresso, and fresh breads. This level will also feature a casual, communal-style eatery.

La Centrale - Brickell
The second level will feature original, multi-course restaurants, which offer traditional Italian fare for lunch and dinner. This level will offer a seafood restaurant, a meat restaurant, and a seasonally inspired restaurant. There will also be an indoor garden, Apulian inspired, cocktail bar on the second level.

The third level will house La Centrale’s culinary school, which hopes to connect restaurant patrons with top-level Italian chefs, so that anyone can recreate authentic Italian meals at home. This level will feature an interactive wine tastings, pairings, and food component that will be led by Italian wine experts.

Giustiniani and Kiehm chose Miami as the location for this updated food hall concept, because they both felt that South Florida residents and visitors needed a place to experience authentic Italian food and culture. Additionally, they chose Brickell City Centre for the location because they believe that the food hall will gain global exposure, thanks to the international visitors who come to the city.

The Apple Store Brickell City Centre Opens March 25

The rumors are true: Brickell City Centre is getting its own Apple Store and it is set to open on March 25, 2017 at 10 AM on the shopping centre’s second floor. Construction workers are onsite around the clock to get the latest tech outpost up and running: We spotted them working as late as 11 PM on March 15. The announcement is live on the Apple website.

Miami.com broke the retail news, highlighting first-time perks that the new Brickell location will offer: There will be a group of “Creative Pros,” a “Boardroom,” and “The Forum.” The overall idea is to create a hub-like experience.

Senior Market Director for Apple Retail, Enrique Atienza, explained each concept to Miami.com. Apple’s “Creative Pros” are specialists in their fields–“We have photographers, bakers, comedians, we even have a fire dancer.”– that were tapped to show shoppers how Apple products can help them maximize their businesses, passions, and endeavors. Miami.com goes on to explain Apple’s “Boardroom” and “The Forum.”

“Apple Brickell City Centre will also have the first Boardroom in the Miami. This is a spot reserved for entrepreneurs, developers and business customers to get hands-on advice and training which could potentially become a hub for downtown’s burgeoning financial sector.

Another exciting feature is The Forum, a gathering space anchored by a video wall that will host educational events for kids and teachers, sessions for tech creatives, game nights and other programming, premieres and workshops with visiting tech experts, artists and musicians.”

Apple’s presence will be the most prominent opening since Brickell City Centre’s November 2016 unveiling. Other recent debuts include Acqua di Parma and Kendra Scott. MAC, Zara, and Centrale–a three story Italian food emporium–will open by year’s end.

Acqua di Parma Brings Italy’s Luxury Lifestyle To Brickell City Centre

Acqua di Parma, a leader in Italian fragrances and craftsmanship, has joined the select mix of upscale retailers from around the world at Brickell City Centre. Located on Level 1, this is the brand’s first stateside outpost and its fourth global free-standing store. Such a monumental international foray could have landed in any Miami area, but Acqua di Parma selected Brickell for its ongoing lifestyle blossoming. “Brickell City Centre is the place to be,” says CEO and President Laura Burdese. “It is contemporary, our target is here, and so far we have had [a] good public response.”

The discerning clientele is devoted to the brand’s quality; after over 100 years in business, the fragrance has remained true to its hand-blended roots. The perennial, top-selling, unisex scents are the same–timeless, passed down by generations, and for any occasion. Colonia has been the hero product since 1916; Blu Mediterraneo is reminiscent of the seaside and popular for warm seasons and climates, and Oud is unlike any other in the line-up and especially appropriate for evening outings.

The by-appointment, intimate Barbershop is an exclusive service of Acqua boutiques, offering the traditional Italian ritual of blade shaving and grooming. Another store exclusive is the Leather Collection of artisanally dyed and sewn calf and buffalo skin accessories, including cigar boxes, humidors, and travel rolls. For the home, a standard assortment meets painted Murano candles; the line’s Fruits and Flowers candles and room sprays are one-of-kind Brickell finds. Expect Acqua di Parma to host in-store events and local collaborations that speak to its signature aesthetic: “The aim is to bring Italian, refined, exclusive lifestyle into Miami; enjoy a little sun ray, scent, and dream of Italy,” says Burdese.
